Academic Team is not only about competition; it is also about leadership, service, and helping other students succeed.

Academic Team members will have opportunities to earn service hours through tutoring and academic support.

Academic Team Tutoring Program

Academic Team members will serve as tutors and academic helpers for other students at Cherokee Bluff. This allows team members to give back to the school while building leadership and teaching skills.

Academic Team tutors may help students with:

• Studying for tests

• Homework help

• Organization and study skills

• Note-taking strategies

• Review for quizzes and exams

• Subject-specific tutoring (math, science, history, English, etc.)

• AP class support

• Study sessions before exams

• Academic Team practice questions for interested students

Service Hour Opportunities

Academic Team members may earn service hours through:

• Tutoring students

• Helping at study sessions

• Assisting with middle school academic team events (if applicable)

• Reading questions at matches

• Helping run competitions

• Organizing study materials

• Creating review guides

• Helping with recruitment events

• Community academic events such as our annual Trunk-or-Treat

Service hours can be used for:

• Graduation service hour requirements

• College applications

• Scholarships

• Resume building

Leadership Opportunities

Academic Team members can also take on leadership roles such as:

• Team Captain

• Practice Leader

• Subject Leader (History, Science, Literature, etc.)

• Tutoring Coordinator

• Match Setup Crew

• Recruitment Team

• Social Media / Promotion

• Fundraising / Sponsorship Team

These leadership roles look great on college and scholarship applications.
