In order to receive Academic Team honors such as Varsity Letters, Graduation Cords, leadership positions, travel opportunities, and end-of-year recognition, students must be considered active members of the Academic Team.
Simply signing up for Academic Team does not automatically qualify a student as an active member.
An active Academic Team member regularly participates in the team by:
Attending practices
Attending competitions (matches)
Participating in service and tutoring opportunities
Contributing to team preparation and study
Helping with team events or competitions
Being a reliable and positive team member
Academic Team is a team activity, and the team depends on members being present, prepared, and involved.
To be considered an active member, students are expected to:
Attend practices regularly (minimum 2x's a month)
Attend scheduled matches unless there is a valid conflict (school sports, etc.)
Participate in at least some service/tutoring opportunities (minimum once per season)
Communicate with the coach about absences instead of not showing up
Represent the team in a positive and responsible way
Participate throughout the season, not just at the beginning or end
Students who rarely attend practices, matches, or service events may be listed as inactive members and may not qualify for team honors.
Varsity Letters and Graduation Cords are awarded to active team members who meet participation expectations over multiple years.
These honors are earned through:
Consistent participation
Commitment to the team
Attendance at practices and matches
Participation in service and tutoring
Positive team contribution
These honors are not awarded based on simply signing up for the team, but on active participation and commitment.
Academic Team is a team.
The team depends on members showing up, participating, and contributing.
We would rather have a small group of committed members than a large group of inactive members.
If you join Academic Team, we expect you to:
Show up
Participate
Help the team
Grow as a student and leader
Represent Cherokee Bluff well
