All officers are expected to:
Adhere to all school rules as outlined in the CBHS Student Handbook
Attend at least 80% of practices and 90% of all officer meetings
Actively participate in the majority of team activities and matches
Be enrolled and present on campus at CBHS for at least part of the school day
Pay all required team dues, consistent with general membership expectations
All plans, events, and initiatives must be approved by the Coach, Mrs. Martin, prior to implementation.
Officers are expected to work in close coordination with the Coach and serve as leaders who model responsibility, communication, and professionalism at all times.
Captain – Varsity A
Preside over and lead the Varsity A team during practices and competitions. Attendance at all practices and matches is expected unless prior communication is given. If you are unable to attend, you must notify the Co-Captain in advance so they can lead in your absence.
Be prepared to read questions during practices and assist in securing readers for matches when needed. Maintain order during practices and meetings while setting a high standard of decorum by leading by example.
Represent the team in school activities and assist in planning team events such as fundraisers, sponsorships, trunk-or-treat, and cross-club collaborations (e.g., partnering with other clubs, supporting the Robotics Team, or coordinating with the Cherokee Bluff Middle School Academic Team).
Delegate responsibilities as needed, beginning with the Co-Captain. Actively participate in school and community outreach by recruiting new members.
Co-Captain – Varsity A
Assist the Captain in all duties listed above and be prepared to assume leadership in their absence.
Be prepared to support additional officer roles, including stepping in for the Secretary or Social Media Manager when needed.
Help maintain order during practices and meetings and uphold a high standard of decorum by leading by example.
Captain – Varsity B

Track snack inventory and notify leadership when replenishment is needed.

Practice attendance
Match participation
Event participation
Paid dues
Submitted applications
T-shirt distribution
Social Media Manager
Capture photos and create posts that highlight the Academic Team throughout the season, including practices, matches, and events. This role requires creativity, consistency, and a strong sense of school spirit to showcase the team’s energy, competitiveness, and community presence.
Create officer spotlight posts for all team officers, including yourself.
Design and post:
Match reminders
Post-match updates and standings
End-of-season highlights
Practice Leader
Lead and organize designated team practices in coordination with the Captain and Co-Captain.
Communicate with team leadership about practice needs, including materials, question sets, or additional support.
Prepare and run practice activities, including:
Reading questions
Timing rounds
Organizing scrimmages
Reviewing missed questions and strategies
Subject Leader (History, Science, Literature, etc.)
Serve as the content specialist for an assigned subject area.
Encourage team members to strengthen knowledge in your subject area and help build overall team confidence.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting teammates in content review and clarification
Creating or sharing study guides, review materials, and key concepts
Identifying commonly missed topics and helping address gaps
Assisting Practice Leaders by contributing subject-specific questions
Tutoring Coordinator
Organize and manage peer tutoring opportunities within the team.
Help ensure all members have access to academic support and opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities include:
Pairing experienced members with newer or struggling members
Creating a schedule for tutoring sessions (before/after school or during designated times)
Tracking participation and progress of tutoring sessions
Communicating with team leadership about areas where additional support is needed
Match Setup Crew
Prepare and manage all materials and logistics for practices and competitions.
Ensure all matches and practices run smoothly from a logistical standpoint.
Responsibilities include:
Setting up buzzers, score sheets, timers, and materials before practices and matches
Assisting the Secretary in ensuring all supplies are packed for away competitions
Cleaning up and organizing materials after events
Troubleshooting basic equipment issues when possible
Recruitment Team
Actively support the growth of the Academic Team through outreach and engagement.
Work with leadership to develop strategies to increase membership and retention.
Responsibilities include:
Promoting the team to students across the school
Assisting with interest meetings, club fairs, and informational sessions
Encouraging classmates and peers to join and participate
Representing the team in a positive and welcoming manner
Social Media / Promotion Team
Support the Social Media Manager in promoting the Academic Team.
Maintain a consistent and positive online presence that reflects the team’s culture and achievements.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with content creation (photos, graphics, captions)
Helping document practices, matches, and events
Contributing ideas for posts, themes, and campaigns
Sharing and promoting posts to increase visibility
Fundraising / Sponsorship Team
Support financial growth and sustainability of the Academic Team.
Work with leadership to ensure the team has the resources needed for competitions, materials, and activities.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting in planning and executing fundraising events
Helping secure sponsorships or donations from local businesses and community members
Promoting fundraising initiatives to students, families, and staff
Tracking participation and helping ensure events run smoothly
