General Questions
Send general questions to your camp's email address and a staff member on your camp's leadership team (Director, Assistant Director, or Camp Unit Lead) will follow up. Please note that emails will be responded to either first thing in the morning or after the camp day has ended. Our camp leadership team is active with campers and staff members during the day, and they do not check emails frequently during camp hours.
Absences
If your camper will be out for a day or multiple days of camp, please inform us. We need to know where campers are if they're enrolled in camp and aren’t accounted for. If we don’t hear from you, expect a call from us.
Late Arrival/Early Pick-up
If your camper is arriving late please just let the office know. If you need to pick up your camper earlier than usual, we ask that you email us at least 48 hours beforehand. If it is a last-minute need, please call and speak with someone in the camp office.
Transportation Changes
Any changes to your camper’s transportation should be requested 72 hours beforehand. Last-minute transportation changes must be completed over the phone and confirmed by camp leadership. If the camp staff has not confirmed, the camp will follow the previously made plans.
Emergencies
If there is an emergency outside of camp and you need to get in touch with your camper, please call the camp office directly. Phone numbers for each camp are listed on this page, and we encourage you to save them on your phone. Hale's main office is unable to transfer calls to camp offices.
Communication Expectations
At camp, our staff are focused on creating a safe, fun, and enriching experience for every camper—which means we do not provide daily updates about individual campers, and we do not share photos on a daily basis. However, we do share periodic photo highlights through emails and in the “Camp News” section of our Camper Resource Site to give you a window into camp life. We encourage you to follow along there and look forward to hearing all about camp directly from your child at the end of their session. If anything arises that requires your attention, we will contact you directly.
You'll receive emails regarding necessary forms that require completion before the start of camp and your camper’s session, along with other helpful and fun information.
We also send update emails throughout each 2-week session:
Friday before a session – Welcome email
Friday of Week 1 – Session update
Friday of Week 2 – Session wrap-up
Facebook/Social Posts
www.facebook.com/groups/halecamps
We use our Facebook group to share special day reminders, memories, and more from the summer. Other things you'll find in the group:
Lost-and-found items
Event highlights
Staff introductions
Camp spotlights
Posts from families
Please note that we value the nature-based experience we provide our campers and put all our time and attention into being in the moment with them. We are not a camp that captures photos of all campers. Any photos we share are of moments our summer photographers can capture during allotted times, but we cannot, unfortunately, always capture photos of every camper.
Automated Texts/Calls/Emails
Hale uses an automated system to send out significant communications related to major schedule changes in transportation, weather events, as well as emergencies. Tests will be sent out before a session, so please be sure to not block these messages.
Phone Calls
While phone calls from camp are typically infrequent, camp may call you directly from time to time to ask specific questions or to discuss specific scenarios at camp. These could be health-related or connected to your camper’s behavior at camp. Phone calls may come from camp leadership or our wellness center.
