And just like that, we’ve wrapped up our final day of Hale Summer Camps for 2025. While we are sad to see the summer go, let’s look back on some of our favorite moments from our final week of session four.
Wednesday brought Middle and Teen Camp to Southwick Zoo in Mendon, MA, where they got to see all sorts of animals, including zebras, lions, and cheetah cubs. While they were out exploring, Kinder and Lower Camp had a special visit from BOTH Westwood and Dover Fire Departments during our final rendition of Klowerfest! Campers learned about fire safety from Firefighters Anthony and John and got to explore the inside of two different kinds of firetrucks. Our other stations during Klowerfest kept with the fire-fighting theme, with an exciting obstacle course that challenged campers to a pool noodle firehose carry, a “bucket brigade” relay race, a “firehose” aiming contest, and s’mores making at the Fire Circle.
On Thursday, Hale Day Camp transformed into our very own Olympic Village as we started the day with an opening ceremony complete with an Olympic torch run. Each unit participated in Olympic-themed games and activities, like the "World Cup," ping pong, relay races, and even gold medal-making at Arts & Crafts. And finally, for the biggest hit of the day, we had our color run! Groups got to take turns participating in our annual run around camp, where they were showered in all sorts of colors while wearing the shirts they had decorated earlier in the week. It was an absolute blast! Teen Camp capped off the day with their last overnight of the summer, camping out in their tents inside the lodge and watching a movie to dodge the thunderstorm. Some Mountain Biking groups participated in their classic ice cream ride, while MTB Advanced spent Thursday and Friday challenging themselves and learning new skills at Keene Bike Park and Trails and Granite Gorge.
On Friday, we were graced with so many unique talents at our Session 4 Talent Show. Campers from both Hale Day Camp and Hale MTB Camp wowed us all with their human pyramids, martial arts, songs and dances, comedy sketches, puppet performances, and so much more. We even had a very special fashion show of all our lost-and-found items hosted by our lifeguards. Finally, we closed out the show with a flash-mob kazoo performance of “Don’t Stop Believin’” led by our talented directors that ended in a camp-wide dance party!
This summer was filled with big smiles, lots of laughs, and memories we know campers will keep with them as they head into the school year. It was certainly one for the books, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this summer amazing. Make sure to keep an eye on the mailbox once school gets back into session for a little reminder of summer…We will miss all of our amazing campers, and we hope to see you on Hale's trails and at our upcoming public events this fall!

Our first week of session 4 was an absolute treat! Hale Day Camp embraced the spooky spirit this week with our Halloween theme day. We started off the day with a parade at morning circle, where each age group showed off their creative costumes. In Arts & Crafts campers made Q-tip skeletons, mini tissue paper jack-o-lanterns and ghosts, and paper plate pumpkins. Teen Camp put a summery twist on pumpkin carving, making jack-o-lanterns out of watermelons. All groups got the chance to earn candy on their Trick or Treating Hike, where they explored camp while searching for clues and challenges. The hike brought them to the Arts & Crafts Collabin where campers had to toss cotton balls at the giant spider web and try to get them stuck. Campers were also challenged to mummify their counselors at one of the Trick stations. Other hits of the week included s’mores-making over the campfire, parachute play in the field, and games of four-square at sports.
New Hale MTB Campers worked on building their confidence, while returning campers perfected the skills they’ve been working on all summer and challenged themselves further on the course.
A hauntingly good time was had by all this week, and we are so looking forward to the last week of camp next week!

What a week! Hale Summer Camps were booked and busy for our last week of Session 3, and we are sad to say goodbye!
Middle Camp and Teen Camp had a ball on their trip to Gillette Stadium for the New England Revolutions’ Summer Camp Day on Wednesday. They got to meet Slyde the Fox, participate in poster-making, play soccer-themed games, and, of course, watch the Revs II take on Atlanta United II. After a thrilling 3-0 win for New England, campers got to meet some of the players and even get their autographs. Our third rendition of Klowerfest took place while Middle and Teen Camp were away, where Kinder and Lower campers got to participate in an exhilarating day of water games! Groups got to cycle through different stations which included water balloon toss, spray bottle tag, sponge-target toss, sprinkler freeze tag, and a slip-n-slide! On Thursday, our campers took on the Wild West as they searched for gold and gemstones in our annual Gold Rush. Middle Group 5 was victorious in their quest to become the first group to find the elusive and highly sought after Rainbow Rock. Congratulations Middle 5!
Adventure Camp was abuzz with excitement about all their different excursions this week. Backcountry hiked Mt. Pierce and stayed at the Nauman tent sites, while Frontcountry camped out at Dry River Campground. Basecamp headed out to Blue Hills to hike and explore the trail side museum, with ADV 101 conquering our local Powissett Peak. MTB groups went on their classic ice-cream ride, and MTB Advanced spent Thursday and Friday riding in New Hampshire at Keene Bike Park Trails and Granite Gorge.
Session 3 was a great start to the second half of our summer, and we can’t wait to see what Session 4 has in store for us! Things may even get a little spooky…🍬🎃

The first week of Session 3 was full of fun and fresh faces! New friendships formed across Hale Day Camp, Hale MTB Camp, and Hale Adventure Camp. We also got to know our new cohort of CITs this week and have loved working alongside them.
Day Camp got to cheer on their counselors in Wednesday morning’s three-legged race. Thursday, we headed back in time for Time Machine theme day, which we celebrated with campers from Ancient Greece, the Jurassic Period, 70s disco, and more! We kicked off the morning with science experiments, which wowed everyone at the Fire Circle. Arts & Crafts was a blast, with campers getting the chance to make their own volcanoes. Teen Camp then topped off a day of decades with an exciting overnight filled with hot dogs and s’mores, a camp-wide game of capture the flag, and the fan-favorite night hike.
Hale MTB Camp saw both new and returning riders tackle the skills park with resilience and excitement. Adventure Camp’s Frontcountry and Backcountry groups spent Thursday night camped out at their site, cultivating the wilderness skills they’ve been building all week.
Our brand new cohort of CITs across Day Camp and MTB Camp began their first week with training blocks, where they got to hear from camp staff on what makes a good counselor. They also started assisting with some camp activities, getting the chance to show off their leadership skills and camp enthusiasm. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish!
We had a great first week of Session 3, and we cannot believe the summer is more than halfway over. We’re excited for week two, where things are sure to get wild…🐎🤠 Stay tuned!
The last week of session two was a blast!
Middle and Teen Camp headed out on their field trip to Canobie Lake, where they made a real splash. Campers enjoyed rides, games, quality time with friends, and some even conquered a few fears along the way.
While the older campers were off-site, Kinder and Lower Camp had a blast at Klower Fest. The day was packed with sack races, hopscotch, water games, friendly competitions, and so much more. Campers were all smiles as they embraced the fun.
We can’t forget about Pirate Day, our theme day for the week. Campers took on the role of pirates in a clue-based puzzle adventure. Each clue led to a puzzle piece, and once completed, the puzzle revealed a treasure map that led to fun prizes. It was a day full of teamwork, excitement, and imagination.
Mountain Biking campers had breakthroughs, challenged themselves with new skills, and were rewarded with their ice cream ride! Teen Camp enjoyed a fun-filled overnight, and both Backcountry and Frontcountry trips went off smoothly.
In Arts & Crafts, creativity was on full display as campers made pirate hats and designed their own treasure maps, fully embracing this week’s theme.
CITs wrapped up their 4-week session with a celebratory barbecue at South Beach, marking the end of a great couple of weeks.
We can’t believe we're halfway through the summer at Hale. We can’t wait to share more with you next Friday!
The second session of the summer is officially underway, and week one was full of fun, adventure, and creativity! Let’s take a look at what campers got up to during their week at Hale.
Mountain Biking campers spent the week testing out new tricks and hitting the trails. Meanwhile at Hale Day Camp, campers made paper plate jellyfish and competed to create the longest paper ring chains in Arts & Crafts. The teamwork and imagination on display were seriously impressive.
CITs had a colorful week too, tie-dyeing their Hale shirts and jumping into their leadership roles with energy and enthusiasm.
This week’s theme day was Under the Sea, and let’s just say the weather took it very literally—it rained all day! But the drizzle didn’t dampen the fun. Our specialist staff beautifully transformed Powisset Lodge into an underwater wonderland, and Kindercamp kicked off an epic dance party that had everyone moving and grooving. Lower Camp jumped in on the fun too, playing cards and laughing their way through the afternoon.
Middle Camp and some familiar faces from Teen Camp went head-to-head in an intense kickball game full of friendly competition and big smiles.
At Adventure Camp, Frontcountry and Backcountry headed out for overnights, both trips leaving campers with stories and memories to bring back to Hale.
We’re wrapping up Week 1 of Session 2 with new friendships, unforgettable moments, and lots to look forward to next week. See you next Friday for a recap of more camp adventures!
The first camp session of the summer was a success! Let’s take a look back at what our campers got up to in their final week of Session 1.
Hale Day Camp had lots of fun events this week, including Middle and Teen Camp’s field trip to Breezy Picnic Grounds & Waterslides on Wednesday. While they enjoyed swimming, games, and waterslides, Kinder and Lower Camp partook in a wiffle ball tournament back at Hale that ended up being quite the nail-biter! Thursday was also packed full of fun, with it being our last theme day of Session 1: Disney Day. Campers came in their best character-inspired outfits and participated in Disney-themed activities, like a “hidden Mickey” scavenger hunt. Thursday morning also held one of our most anticipated events of the session, the Talent Show. So many talented campers got the chance to showcase their unique talents for their counselors and fellow campers. Whether performing an act or supporting those on the stage, everyone was an active participant in Thursday’s show.
Adventure Camp was also busy this week. On Wednesday, Basecamp followed up a hike in the Blue Hills with an overnight at Hale. Frontcountry and Backcountry really put the “adventure” into Adventure Camp, spending Tuesday through Thursday camping in the White Mountains! Adventure 101 also ended the week strong by doing Hale’s challenge course on Thursday.
MTB Campers spent their week working on their skills and getting the chance to cool down with some swim time. Wednesday was MTB Camp's traditional ice cream ride to Caryl Park, which, of course, ended in a well-deserved treat. Last but not least, some of our older mountain bikers got the chance to travel up to Granite Gorge in Keene, New Hampshire, for some downhill mountain biking and an overnight stay.
Session 1 created so many great memories. Whether this was your only session with us this summer or the first of many, we hope everyone had an amazing time. See you next Monday for the start of Session 2!
The week kicked off with a few hot days, and all campers enjoyed swimming, water balloon battles, and other water games to stay cool. The cooler temperatures at the end of the week made room for new adventures and games.
Hale Day Campers learned some camp songs, which got everyone up on their feet and singing. Thursday was the first theme day of the summer, starting off strong with Superhero Day. The morning began with a heroes vs. villains pool noodle duel, with campers enthusiastically supporting their counselors in their battles. All groups were also challenged to complete six different tasks throughout the day that coordinated with our six camp values in order to achieve the ranking of Super Camper!
Mountain Biking campers experienced their very own Harry Potter-style “sorting ceremony” to be oriented into their groups for this session. On Wednesday, campers also designed their own tie-dye shirts, and our Adventure and Mountain Biking campers came together on Friday to participate in a fun field day alongside the CITs. Adventure Camp groups also braved Hale’s challenge course and climbing wall, and Frontcountry and Backcountry hiked to the top of Powissett Peak.
Fun was had by all in our first week of Hale Summer Camps, and we have so much to look forward to next week, including a Disney theme day, overnights with Adventure Camp, and a Middle and Teen Camp field trip to Breezy Picnic Grounds & Waterslides. See you next week, campers!
Dear Camp Families,
We’ve heard a number of families plan to keep campers home tomorrow due to the extreme heat, and with a limited number of air-conditioned spaces and in consultation with the local board of health, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all camp programs on Tuesday, June 24.
As an outdoor camp, the safety and well-being of our campers and staff are always our top priority. Forecasted temperatures and heat indices pose a significant health risk.
We know how disappointing it is to miss a day of camp, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize everyone’s safety. Camp will resume as scheduled on Wednesday, June 25.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your understanding, support, and flexibility.
Stay safe and cool,
Jackie
Director, Camp & Community Programs
We’re excited to welcome your camper to Hale Summer Camps! As we prepare for our first week, we are closely monitoring the weather forecast, which calls for extremely high temperatures. The safety of our campers and staff is our top priority, and we are taking steps to keep everyone safe, healthy, and cool.
Throughout the week, we will:
Adjust outdoor programming to limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours.
Increase access to water and encourage frequent water breaks.
Use shaded and indoor spaces for activities when possible. We are an outdoor camp, but our covered pavilions, tents, and indoor spaces provide intermittent relief from sun and heat.
Provide additional opportunities for water play and games. We avoid increasing swim time in the pond because that actually exposes campers to more sun.
Please help your camper prepare:
Send them to camp with a full water bottle (labeled with their name).
Apply sunscreen before they leave home, and pack extra sunscreen in their bag so they can reapply at camp.
Dress your camper in light-colored, breathable clothing, and pack a hat if possible.
If your camper is particularly sensitive to heat, please contact us so we can discuss their needs.
Keep in mind that while our counselors create opportunities for campers to apply sunscreens, we do not force children to use these products. We highly recommend explaining the risks of sunburn and emphasizing the importance of protecting ourselves from sun exposure. Here’s a guide to help them learn healthy behaviors.
We’ll continue to monitor conditions and will communicate any changes to camp schedules or plans as needed. Thank you for helping us keep summer safe and fun for everyone!
Warmly,
Hale Summer Camps Team
Happy first day of summer, Hale Families! What better way to kick off the season than a week of Pre-Camp! This week, the waterfront was alive with laughter as campers jumped into the water, many for the first time this season. From building impressive sandcastles to showing off their best swim moves for our lifeguards and counselors, your campers made the most of their time on the beach. Campers also suited up in life vests and headed out for supervised paddling with staff, bringing big smiles and new adventures to the pond.
In Arts and Crafts, campers explored their creativity with a boat-making project. After building their designs, they tested whether their boats would float. It was the perfect mix of creativity and science.
Campers also spent time connecting with the beauty of nature around Hale. Whether on walks or exploring near the waterfront, they let their curiosity lead the way. Thank you for letting us kick off the summer with your campers! We are looking forward to beginning session 1 next week!
Come by our camp sites starting June 11 for a self-guided camp tour! Follow the arrows to take you to different activity areas and other important locations at camp.
