Theme Days 2025!
Each session will have 2 themes, one for each week of the session. Each Thursday will be the dress-up day for the week where we invite all campers and staff to dress to the theme! An email will be sent to you from your camper's Unit Director before the session starts and will include information about the theme days.
Session 1
Week 1: Superhero Day
Week 2: Disney Day
Session 2
Week 1: Under the Sea
Week 2: Pirate Day
Session 3
Week 1: Time Machine
Week 2: Wild West
Session 4
Week 1: Hale-O-Ween
Week 2: Olympics Day & Color Run
For our youngest campers, changing out of wet bathing suits can be one of the most challenging parts of the camp day. It can be helpful to have young campers practice this skill at home! Having them try on their bathing suit during bath time or at your favorite local swim spot can help them build this skill and feel more successful and confident going into the changing rooms.
On the second Wednesday of each session, Middle and Teen campers will be going offsite together to have an exciting experience at the following locations:
Session 1, July 2 - Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterslides
Session 2, July 16 - Canobie Lake Park
Session 3, July 30 - New England Revolution Game
Session 4, August 13- Southwick's Zoo
Field Trip Permission Slips Coming Soon!
Teen campers enjoy an additional swim block following the end of the traditional camp day to jumpstart the overnight!
Campers build their skills by setting up their tents by themselves (with staff support if they need, of course)!
After a game of capture the flag, teens enjoy a hotdog dinner and a s'mores dessert!
Part of the teen camp overnight is the night hike where the group walks silently to our North Beach location to experience Hale at night! This part of the experience provides them with a new perspective of nature including fireflies lighting up the fields, new sounds they wouldn't hear during the daytime, and an unobstructed sky full of stars.
Overnight Dates 2025
Session 1- June 26
Session 2- July 10
Session 3-July 24
Session 4- August 7
We're thrilled you have chosen Hale for your child to foster a strong relationship with the great outdoors and learn leadership skills that will serve them well, whether their first job is a camp counselor, or an opportunity outside of the camping world!
Week 1
The CIT Program begins with training on workplace policies, camp structures, and routines, as well as learning. Participants will also have opportunities to explore several Hale programs and various positions. In addition to all of the learning and training, participants will also have opportunities for fun and to engage in various camp activities and events.
Participants will come away with hard and soft skills related to camp work. In addition, they will create camaraderie among participants and establish a creative mindset while being introduced to Hale's programs and summer positions.
Week 2
During the second week, participants will work on a specific program or activity of their choice. They will shadow the counselors and campers, and assist where needed. Each day, they will have time to journal about how their experience is going, and they will also get a chance to work on an independent curriculum project.
The goals for this week are that participants will get a better idea of individual programs and how they work, learn how to build a curriculum and get plenty of hands-on experience.
Weeks 3 and 4
During the last two weeks, participants will meet with someone in leadership who will act as a guide and mentor. They will work on a service project or event or spend time volunteering in a particular department or area. Projects, events, and volunteering are all focused on "paying It forward" and leaving Hale a little better than how you found it.
When the four weeks are complete, participants will leave with volunteer hours for the amount of time they worked.
The second summer as a CIT allows campers to utilize and enhance skills they learned in their first year following a similar structure. The expectations are higher, and we expect the they will be role models for our first-year CITs.
