Partnering with Families to Help Every Camper Thrive
At Hale, we believe that camp should be a place where every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
Our Camp Care Team is here to make that happen.
Our Camp Care Team includes professionals with backgrounds in youth development, mental health, education, and restorative practices. They work alongside our camp leadership and staff to ensure that every camper feels safe, included, and set up for success.
Camp Care Director - Sarah Cerrone
Sarah joined us in 2025 to launch our camp care program across all of Hale's camps. Sarah brings years of experience working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in school systems. She spends her school year supporting students in having the most successful educational experience possible and now brings that passion to our camps. We have always worked under the mindset that camp should work for kids, not that kids have to fit into camp. Sarah embodies that mindset and has helped build a program that brings families into our camp teams to ensure all campers have an amazing summer experience.
Sarah supports a team of two camp care specialists who help implement strategies and plans with staff across Hale's summer camps.
Builds Relationships: We get to know campers, check in regularly, and foster a sense of belonging.
Supports Behavior & Emotions: We use proactive tools (such as value reminders and positive reinforcement) as well as responsive strategies (such as reflection breaks or collaborative conversations).
Collaborates with Families: We’ll reach out to invite your input when we think it could be helpful — you are the expert on your child!
Trains & Coaches Staff: We support our camp staff with tools and training to meet campers’ social-emotional needs.
Responds to Incidents with Care: If a camper is struggling or needs a break, we step in to help restore balance, support accountability, and ensure they rejoin the group when ready.
We believe in transparent and compassionate communication. If your child is having a hard time, we’ll let you know —and we’ll also listen, collaborate, and adjust. Likewise, if something at home changes or your camper is going through a tough season, feel free to give us a heads up.
Ways you can partner with us:
Let us know about any specific needs, past camp experiences, or support strategies that work well for you.
Keep communication open — especially when we reach out to discuss a situation or ask for input.
Know that we lead with care and always have your camper’s best interest at heart
We welcome your outreach anytime! You can contact us if:

Our Camp Care approach is grounded in our six core values:
Community: We create spaces of belonging and connection.
Curiosity: We seek to understand each camper’s experience.
Joy: We celebrate what makes each child unique.
Growth: We help campers reflect, reset, and try again.
Integrity: We foster accountability and trust.
Resilience: We support campers through challenges and cheer them on as they grow.
Camp is about more than activities — it’s about becoming who you are. And our Camp Care Team is here to walk that journey alongside every camper, every step of the way.
