Dear Students and Families,

First grade is a wonderful time and you will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. During first grade, your child will learn how to read, write stories, add, subtract, and so much more. It will be my honor to make learning exciting and fun for all of my first grade students.

During first grade we will use several different curriculums to ensure that your child is learning through the most beneficial programs. Your child will learn how to spell without hindering his or her ability to write creatively and share stories. Your child will learn how to read while still enjoying his or her favorite books. Your child will be able to explore and ask questions and then apply it to math or science experiments. Our day will consist of a combination of direct instruction, modeling, guided instruction, hands on learning, technology integration, and learning through social interactions.

My goal for the year is to develop a classroom conducive to learning. I plan to accomplish this goal by developing a sense of community with the students and by challenging them to do their very best every day. I will enable every child I teach to find success and discover a lifelong love of learning.
