HACC Culinary Arts alumna advances to National American Culinary Federation (ACF) Student Chef of the Year Competition

We are pleased to announce, HACC Culinary Arts alumna and graduating HACC Baking and Pastry Arts student Faith Brenneman, will compete this year in the ACF Student Chef of the Year competition to be held at the ACF National Convention in Dallas, Texas from July 19-23, 2020.

Faith Brenneman CC, graduated in May of 2019 and is currently employed at the Harrisburg Hilton, is no stranger to national competitions. She captained a team from HACC in 2019 who competed in the Baron Galand Knowledge Bowl, a Jeopardy style competition to test a student’s culinary knowledge. Faith and her teammates Anna Smith and Julie Marloff won the NE Regional Competition and advanced to the National Competition in Orlando, August 2019. The team came away with ACF Silver and Bronze Medals. (Pictured left to right, Faith Brenneman, Chef Autumn Patti, Anna Smith, Julie Marolf)

The ACF Student Chef of the Year Competition requires students from across the country to prepare 2 courses (4 plates of each) in a two hour time frame. Faith must design an appetizer and entrée course utilizing all ingredients in a mystery basket with the addition of 2 fruits or vegetables of her choice. Ingredients include: lobster, scallops, flat iron steak, pancetta, pistachios, apricots, shiitake mushrooms, eggplant, leeks, spinach, ricotta cheese, and quinoa.

Faith will work with her coach, Chef Autumn Patti, to prepare for the competition in designing, organizing, and practicing. Several other local chefs are also offering their support on her road to Dallas.
