Kudos to Melissa Harden and Kimberly Hall for an excellent CITE presentation on “Adapting Your Courses to 7-Week Minimesters,” focusing on the intentional design of seven-week courses that enable students to meet the required learning outcomes. Kim and Melissa provided some planning tools and best practices and invited faculty to work individually with them to adapt and improve their courses.
Kudos to Brenda Eppley, Paul Foltz, Dave Olmsted, Ben Roberts, Lori Friedlander and Jay Kirssin, theatre instructors, and HACC theatre students Matthew Mercado and Garrett Knisley. They were nominated for numerous Broadway World awards, including Arts Educators of the Decade, Best Ensemble, Best Theatre Staff, and Theatre Company of the Decade!
Kudos to Jay Lohman, Sean Beaver, Brett Thompson and Nicia Hollman for officially relocating the wellness screening booth at Gate 1 on the Harrisburg Campus. This involved supplying power, installing lights, a heater, streamlining the cones and posting new masking signs as well as other signage.
Kudos to Kelly Swanson for continuing to put her team first while providing daily encouragement and laughs!
Kudos to Melanie Wagner for meeting quick deadlines and creating fantastic videos for the modified marketing campaigns!

Advertising, Branding, Marketing and Public Relations – Amanda Wilkins, Beth McLucas, Danielle Adams, Hannah Book, Jenn Boyd, Kelly Swanson, Megan Hoose and Pam Saylor have been entrusted with our brand, and they continue to impress. Our persona campaigns and academic program marketing campaigns are igniting excitement throughout the College.
Alumni affairs – Beth McLucas and Desovia Musson are working behind the scenes to ensure we serve our alumni and continue to strengthen their affinity to the College.
Crisis communications – Several of you are on the front lines with Linnie Carter as you battle racists and white supremacists associated with HACC. Thank you for being good, decent, honorable and inclusive. In addition, Jenn Boyd and Kelly Swanson kept pandemic-related communications front and center to keep our stakeholders safe.
Fundraising – The fundraisers secured two major gifts, planned three giving days and facilitated strategic year-end appeals. Amanda Clemm planned successful HACC Foundation Board-related meetings that received high marks. Azia Young, Farrah Trimble, Mike Wagner, Rachel Strausbaugh and Sherrie Whisler provided essential information – including correspondence, lists, MOU processing and reports – necessary to communicate with and serve our donors.
Grants – Beth McLucas and Desovia Musson played key roles in developing grant proposals and presentations.
Graphic design – Hannah Book produced amazing graphics, including awe-inspiring Zoom backgrounds.
Photography – Melanie Wagner used her knowledge of our vast photography collections to select and provide images for marketing campaigns and external partnerships.
Publications – Amanda Clemm, Beth McLucas and Desovia Musson produced e-newsletters that reached tens of thousands of people. Amanda Wilkins, Danielle Adams, Hannah Book, Jenn Boyd, Kelly Swanson, Megan Hoose and Pam Saylor put their indelible mark on our publications – especially those that debut on our websites.
Scholarships, emergency assistance and tuition giveaways – Desovia Musson, Farrah Trimble, Mike Wagner and Shannon Snyder worked together collaboratively and creatively to create even more opportunities for our students to receive funding. Their processes continue to improve and are increasingly student-centered.
Social media – The IMC team posted celebratory and historic announcements onto our social media sites.
Special events – Danielle Adams is co-leading our first-ever virtual Commencement ceremony, and her planning is exceptional. Megan Hoose and Linnie Carter were selected to co-present in a national virtual conference in February 2021. Nearly 400 proposals were submitted, and 50 sessions were selected. Theirs was one of them!
Sponsorships – Desovia Musson secured two new sponsorships and updated our sponsorship package with new virtual event opportunities.
Videography – Melanie Wagner produced and edited videos to help tell the many stories that make us #HACCproud.
Website development – Amanda Clemm, Khoa Pham, Melanie Wagner and Theresa Richwine updated many webpages with clear, compelling and accurate information – “faster than a speeding bullet.”

Kudos to the team in Career Services. Christy Ramos, Nicole McCarten, Jean Tucker, AnnMarie Driscoll and Lorie Sonnen for their amazing effort to create and host not just one, but a total of four engaging events last week to support HACC's Contact Tracer Program graduates. The work done by these ladies is a tremendous asset to our programs, our community and our college.

Kudos to Melissa Etzweiler for facilitating and completing the first rescue medical practitioner course in the nation, which was hosted at the Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center (PSC).

Kudos to Josh Eckenrode, Doreen Fisher-Bammer and Bill Sindorf for their diligent efforts to launch the online Spanish for Law Enforcement Program which has already been purchased by students from five law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

Several meetings across a number of departments, representing multiple constituencies - the result was exceptional. Everyone was patient, actively listening in working together to put the library pieces into the right places. Kudos to Seth Chevalier for devising a plan for the critical Oracle upgrade to ensure HACC's Banner database is secure and up to date. Without this critical upgrade, we would not be able to move forward with any Banner upgrades.
Kudos to the work of the HR Data Governance team of Kim Kelsey, Heather Gutschmidt, Meredith Jenkins, Ellen Horsch, Jaime Sholly, Jessie Goft, Brittany Langletz, Denys Pfeiffer, and Kelly Pannebaker who are working to establish standard data definitions and practices for the accuracy, timeliness, and security of HR data and reports. This is important work toward the College's strategic vision for data governance.
Kudos to Elisa Cohen and her team are AMAZING!!!!!!! They have done so much to support our students through this remote testing. They quickly and kindly address student needs. I'm sure not all students are kind when feeling frustrated about remote testing and her team handles everything with so much grace. We are very fortunate to have them. They are unsung heroes at HACC. A big KUDOS to them! They deserve to be recognized.
