GWSC 'LIVE BELOW THE LINE' FUNDRAISING NETWORK
Our GWSC 'Live Below The Line' Fundraising Network supports the work of ‘Oaktree’ who provide education programs to help youth living below the line to break the poverty cycle.
The 'Live Below The Line' challenge also enables participants to experience first-hand some of the difficulties that are endured by those whose lives are impacted by poverty.
Over the past ten years, we have had over nine hundred students and staff participate in this fundraising campaign, with our GWSC ‘LBTL’ Network raising an incredible $156,845 for Oaktree.
We have been the highest fundraising school in Australia for the past ten years, but more incredibly we were the #1 fundraising team overall in the ‘Live Below The Line’ campaign in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024! We know that together, we can do even more amazing things into the future.....
BREAKING NEWS......The Oaktree 'Live Below The Line' Campaign this year has levelled up, with the new challenge asking LBTL'ers to participate in a project/action which allows them to live in solidarity with other people and our planet whilst surviving on only $2 of food per day.....All LBTL'ers in 2025 will take part in a 5 day journey that emphasizes long-term meaningful action to create a more just and sustainable world. All LBTL'ers will be asked to choose one of 5 areas (Food, Energy, Housing, Technology, Waste) to focus on during their 5 day challenge, moving away from the premise of only “experiencing” food insecurity for a week (e.g. living on only $2 per day), which is certain to both expand and deepen the focus of the challenge (& our minds) to capture the multidimensional nature of poverty.
A range of different ‘LBTL’ initiatives have again been devised this year, to assist participants through their challenge week…… stay tuned to ScreenCast and Compass ‘My News’ Feed for further details. Special awards will also be presented during ‘Poverty Awareness Week’, at the end of the Live Below The Line campaign, to those LBTLer's and LBTL teams who go above and beyond in their fundraising efforts!
