Astronomers Association of GWSC

The 'Astronomers Association of GWSC' is a student-led club that focuses on discussions and activities associated with anything and everything about space. This includes black holes, white dwarfs, quasars, pulsars, in addition to other incredible phenomena out there in the cosmos. One or more of our student leaders will start up a conversation about a certain topic as each meeting commences and then members of our club can join in on the conversation by voicing their own astronomical thoughts, opinions and questions. 

It will be a safe environment for those with a passion for astronomy and for those who want to extend their knowledge. As the current science curriculum does not go too deeply into Astronomy, any students interested in this field will get a chance to learn more about this incredible area of science.

We welcome ALL students and staff who have an interest in space, even if it is just a certain part of it that they like. Those who want to expand their knowledge and learn something new will also be welcome. 

No prior knowledge or skills are required; however, those who wish to join our 'Astronmers Association of GWSC' must: 

• Be committed by attending all meetings and sessions if you are able to. 

• Be ready to engage or listen to the discussions our club is involved in. 

• Be respectful to peers and staff members alike. 

• Display our school values at all times - Respect, Commitment, Accomplishment, Diversity and Perseverance. 

• Wish to develop confidence, creativity, higher order thinking skills and a good knowledge of space.

By joining this student-led club, we hope that you will consider Astronomy as a possibility for your future studies and career. We also aim to spread interest and awareness of Astronomy to all students and staff at Glen Waverley Secondary College.
