Getting Started

Assessment- the first step is to determine your current computer literacy level. Prior to enrolling in any class or training program, we will assess your computer knowledge in one or more of the following areas with a Northstar or GED assessment:

Computer Basics

Computer Classes & Courses- we offer onsite classes & online courses for individuals who need to learn how to use a computer or advance their basic computer skills. Classes are currently taught virtually and onsite at our Career Training Centers. Basic computer classes & courses include:

Microsoft & Adobe Certifications

Computer Classes & Courses- we offer certification-level onsite classes and online courses for Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud. Classes are taught both virtually and onsite at our Career Training Centers. Certification-level classes include:

  • Microsoft Office Specialist in Word (MOS)

  • Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel (MOS)

  • Microsoft Office Specialist in PowerPoint (MOS)

  • Adobe Certified Associate in Premiere (ACA)

Careers in technology are predicted to steadily increase in demand and salary over the next 6-10 years. The chances of advancement are high, along with steady increases in salary with gained experience.

Google IT Support Professional Certificate

Five-Module Online Course- The Google IT Support Professional Certificate, funded by Google and administered by Coursera, includes innovative curriculum designed to prepare you for an entry-level role in IT support. A job in IT can mean in-person or remote help desk work in a small business or at a global company like Google. The program is part of Grow with Google, a Google initiative to help create economic opportunity for all.

Goodwill Industries Big-Bend, in partnership with Google, is offering scholarships to individuals who live in the Florida panhandle or lower Georgia.

Through a mix of video lectures, quizzes, and hands-on labs and widgets, this program will introduce you to troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration and security. You’ll hear from Googlers with unique backgrounds whose own foundation in IT support served as a jumping off point for their careers. By dedicating 5-10 hours a week, you can complete the program in 4-6 months.

Individuals who complete the course are given access to an exclusive national employer consortium where recruiters search through graduates to hire for open positions. The jobs available for this particular skill set include systems analyst, support specialist, database administrator, IT technician, computer specialist, and many more.

You can also earn a CompTIA and Google dual credential when you complete the Google certificate and pass the CompTIA A+ certification exams. Completing the program can also earn you up to 12 college credits, the equivalent of 4 associate degree-level courses.

Six-Module Online Course- The Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate, developed by Google and administered by Coursera, is designed to provide IT professionals with in-demand skills -- including Python, Git, and IT automation -- that can help you advance your career.

The 3-6 month online course teaches students how to program with Python and how to use Python to automate common system administration tasks. You'll also learn to use Git and GitHub, troubleshoot and debug complex problems, and apply automation at scale by using configuration management and the Cloud.

Goodwill Industries Big-Bend, in partnership with Google, is offering scholarships to individuals who live in the Florida panhandle or lower Georgia. Applicants for this course must have completed a previous training in IT foundation skills or have prior experience in that field.

Individuals who complete the course are given access to an exclusive national employer consortium where recruiters search through graduates to hire for open positions. This new beginner-level certificate will prepare you for a variety of roles in IT, like more advanced IT Support Specialist or Junior Systems Administrator positions.
