Rising 6th Grade
Welcome to our Sixth Grade Summer Learning Site!
For students entering sixth grade in Fall 2023.
Hello Practically 6th Grade Students & Families!
As you prepare to leave 5th Grade and enter the Upper School, it's important to know what you can do over the summer to be ready for day one next year!
We know your summer is going to be sunny and full of memory-making. In between those moments, please complete the following:
Language Arts:
You have a required summer reading book. Please read this LETTER from Mrs. Doyon, your sixth grade ELA teacher (follow the link in the word LETTER) to learn more about it.
Practice your reading comprehension and writing skills this summer by maintaining a journal and/or using IXL. This will serve you well as we hit the ground running at the beginning of the school year.
Another suggestion is that parents/guardians purchase the Grade 5 Language Arts summer skill review workbooks linked here.
Math:
The required work Ms. Sullivan would like you to complete for Math this summer is Practice & Review Sheets 1-12. These worksheets include practice for topics and skills you worked on this year, and a few problems to challenge you! Here is a link to these worksheets. You can complete one each week this summer to keep your flexible math brain ready for next school year.
You have worked this year on your fact fluency you don't want to lose that over the summer! XtraMath and other fact fluency games (flashcards or online) will help you retain those facts. Students should aim to keep those multiplication and division skills sharp,
Another suggestion is that parents/guardians purchase the Summer Skills Workbook for math at the website linked here for additional review practice this summer. It provides some informational pages that remind students of how to complete certain skills, a glossary of terms, and answer pages to check their work. We suggest this book as an excellent review of the work they have done this year!
If you want more optional practice, IXL even has some printable practice packets for Math this summer! Check those free printables out below.
Supplies:
You can find the 6th grade supply list here.

We couldn't be more proud of everything you've done this year. You are so ready for Upper School!
Love,
