Task 2: Become familiar with the new functionality of Google Originality Reports in Google Classroom.
Google Classroom
Many teachers at Gulliver find the use of Google Classroom enhances their classroom experience. While the use of Google Classroom is not a school-wide requirement, please check with your department chair or grade level coordinator to see if the use of Google classroom is the expectation for your department.
Google Classrooms at Gulliver are set up administratively so your class rosters are always up-to-date. It is not necessary for you to set up your own Google Classrooms if you decide to use them. The classrooms will be created and will appear in your Google Drive.
You can find out more about Google Classroom here. You can also reach out to any member of the ETIS team for more information and support with the use of Google Classroom.
Google Originality Report Feature
A functionality found in Google Classroom is the Google Originality Report. When students and teachers use the Originality Report feature, a clear display of any plagiarized portion of a paper are easily viewed. Students are permitted to upload their work to the originality scanner up to three times per assignment. Teachers have unlimited use of the originality scan feature. By using this feature regularly, students become more aware of how to write original material and how to properly cite outside material that has been used in their research.
The Originality Report is only available within Google Classroom. If you would like more information about using Google originality reports with your class, please contact a member of the ETIS team.
