Online and Blended Teaching Certification
October 2023 Online and Blended Teaching Certification Update
2023 Online and Blended Teaching Certification Summer Institute (Pilot)
Eleven Guilford College faculty and staff took part in the 2023 Summer Institute, led by Jon Howle. This was a pilot program. All participants were required to complete the Quality Matters course "Applying the Quality Matters Rubric" (APPQMR) in person and then had the option to attend additional training in-person or remotely. The Institute took place in the Collaboratory, which created many options with technology and collaboration.
Then, participants completed a Capstone for an online asynchronous course in their discipline. Participants were held to high standards. To earn certification, participants' capstones had to meet the standards set forth by the 7th edition of the Quality Matters rubric, which was published in July 2023. Participants have until October 20, 2023 to complete their capstone and earn a minimum score of 86 out of 101 points.
Congratulations to the following faculty who have earned certification as of October 1, 2023: Michael Dutch, Michael White, David Hildreth, Julie Jacks, Shelley Ewing, and Chad Phillips.
