The Betty Place Ideation Lab facilitates multimedia and multi-modal collaboration on digital projects.

The Betty Place Ideation Lab is located on the Commons Ground level of Hege Academic Commons. It is available 24/7 via card swipe access. Please note that you must be approved for card swipe access before you will be able to use the space.

There are 3 Windows desktop PCs and 2 Mac desktops. Additionally, there are 2 Windows laptop PCs and 13 Mac laptops available for use. For a full list of all software available on each machine, please see below.

NOTE: The Ideation Lab will be closed for the entirety of the Fall 2024 semester as the Commons Ground is renovated. No reservations will be accepted until January 2025.

The Ideation Lab is open to all members of the Guilford community but reservations to use the space must be made in advance. Reservations can be made for as little as 1 hour and as long as an entire semester. Please remember that all reservation requests must be made by faculty or staff organizational or internship sponsors; students cannot reserve the Ideation Lab on their own.

Most of the furnishings in the Ideation Lab are fully flexible and configurable. The maximum capacity for the Ideation Lab is 28, including the instructor(s). The Ideation Lab is equipped with the following technology:

• Video panel: A large panel that can be utilized as a display for films, slide decks, etc. or used collaboratively via WePresent

  • A permanent HDMI cable allows for direct connections to the panel

• Desktop PCs

  • There are 3 Windows PCs and 2 Mac PCs

• 1 Steelcase collaboration table

  • Built-in high resolution panel can be used via HDMI cables in the center of the table
