Senior Stipends
Here's a couple of reminders about Senior Stipends!
Senior stipends are UP TO $1000 per person, until the funding runs out.
You can apply for them in Fall-- the first deadline is September 15th (and this is the one where you have the best chance of getting funded), then there is a November 15th deadline. We have a February 15th deadline for unexpected/last minute stuff, but our funds will likely be gone by then.
In the past few years, most awards have tended to be between $500-800, with a few at the total $1000 amount.
All senior stipend awards will be paid directly by Pcard, using the provost's office, for items approved in your application (e.g., GRE registration, grad school application fee, books or materials related to thesis research, etc); in some very rare cases we might be able to reimburse you (so save receipts, always). Be sure to talk with H2 before incurring any expense.
You may undertake necessary activities that cannot wait, during the summer of your upcoming senior year, but you will need to work with H2 and the provost's office to purchase.
You may apply for funds and then use them anytime until April 30th--all senior stipends must be spent by that date as campus shuts the books in May. (You can pay for a GRE/MCAT/LSAT exam by April 30th and not take the test until early June, however.)
Software and tech items require extra pre-authorization; you can't go buy an ipad and then ask for senior stipends to cover it. Typically IT&S must approve these items.
You can find the application listed on the senior year page. **Be sure to include receipts or invoices or a proposed budget, and to fully/persuasively explain why your need of funding will help you achieve your thesis or post-grad goals. (Highlight the significance--just like in a good essay!)
Use the ONLINE FORM (usually circulated in HON 400). Here is a PDF version so you know what it will look like and can plan ahead.
