You will be developing a thesis proposal and plan in HON 300 (spring 12wk session). Be sure to choose a thesis project that excites you--this is your opportunity to dive deep into research! You will complete 4 credits of 470/490:Thesis Research in your major (most likely) in senior year.
*Don't forget: if you are accelerating your graduation timeline, or an Ed Studies major, you need to take HON 300 a year early.
Check out the Hege Library page to search for Honors thesis -- and peruse the work of your colleagues!
Hege Library also maintains a thesis research page, to help you narrow and focus your thesis plan (because we all start out wayyyyyy too broad).
Wait--don't see something that looks like what you want to do? No problem.
This is your research project--work with your faculty advisor to create something new! You can do an interdisciplinary project using HON 470:Thesis credits if your project doesn't fit into a single major.
Thesis Information: Zotero for Citation Management & Thesis Digital Projects
(Consider doing a digital, or mixed-media project! Here's a concept album created by Honors grad, Eli Phillips, for his music thesis)
Thesis Requirements - A document listing what each major on campus requires for a thesis project (updated 7/31/2022).
Planning for Senior Year: You will register for HON 400 in the Fall and at least 4 credits of 470/490:Thesis in your major
or in Honors (if interdisciplinary). This is a requirement of graduating from the Honors Program.
