Attention

In Summer '26, Wess Daniels, Mark Dixon, and Cynthia Nearman facilitated two series on Attention based on the work of the Strother School of Radical Attention (SORA). 

The first was a three-day attention club in which faculty participants engaged in attention practices aimed at expanding our understanding of attention beyond the "attention economy," discussed ways to refocus our classes on the work of attention, and ideas for how to coordinate attention work across the College.

The second was a series of workshops facilitated by leaders of The Strother School of Radical Attention. Participants included faculty, coaches, staff, administrators, and a student. The facilitators demonstrated attention practices, initiated conversations about how to develop attention sanctuaries on campus, and participated in conversations with College leaders about how Guilford might integrate this work across the College.
