This small, high–speed portable machine can do many different forming jobs. What is a forming job? a forming job is cutting a specific profile along the edge or the face of your material. For example, a simple "round over" can soften the sharp edges of a cutting board, and a "bowl carving bit" can create the juice groove of that same cutting board.
Routers can be hand held or mounted to the underside of a "router table." You will find safety resources for both in two seperate sections below.
OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM THE INSTRUCTOR BEFORE STARTING THIS MACHINE.
Be sure the cord is not plugged in when making adjustments or installing bits or cutters.
Be sure the router bit and clamp screw are tightened securely before operating the machine.
All setups must be inspected by the teacher.
When using the router, all work must be held securely. Clamp the work to the bench or secure it with a vise.
Wear a face shield and safety glasses when you use the router.
Have a firm grip on the router when using it.
When making a cut, always:
Feed the machine slowly into the material by making several light cuts.
Push the machine over the material in a direction which is opposite to the rotation of the cutter.
Advance the machine at a moderate rate of speed.
Do not set the router down until the machine comes to a complete stop.
REMEMBER! Due to the location of the cutting edges and the portability of this machine, you must take special precautions when using it.
