We Are Learning the Engineering Process

Kick Off Day

The team gathered on Kick Off day to watch the game reveal and begin the process of designing our robot. We watched the video twice and read the important sections of the Game Manual. We discussed game scoring opportunities and highlighted 4.2.3 of the manual to understand the importance of telemetry design as we discussed the importance of meeting our scoring goal of 60 points. Then, each individual on the team designed a robot and presented their robot to the group. We practiced Gracious Professionalism in listening to each other's ideas and began the process of building our engineering notebook and website to document our journey. We set key goals for the season that extended beyond building a robot.

Basic Robot Goals

Our basic goals were to have intake take in every size and weight of ´freight´,  to have a way to get over the field obstacles, we also wanted to build code to get us there. since we are a new team with all of the basic robot skills we had to build skills.

Robot Systems

Drive System

Our robot is a four-wheel drive robot with free-rotating omni wheels strategically placed to prevent the intake system from getting stuck on the obstacles. We are able to drive over the obstacles during autonomous to park and during teleop to retrieve cargo from the warehouse to deliver to the shared shipping hub.

Intake System

Our intake system uses two REV Core Hex motors on a 1:12 gear ratio to drive a duel-rotation, chain-driven intake that relies on surgical tubing and rotational momentum to guide cargo into the elevator cup. Our robot is capable of intaking all sizes and weights of cargo and of reversing to avoid penalties during the game.
