August-September Photo Folder - check it out! Thank you for completing the verification forms!
We had a busy week at school. Here are a few highlights:
NOTE: I will be away on Friday, Sept 26 and Monday, Sept 29. Mrs. Kellington will be in for me.
Math - We continued some review, worked on problem solving and estimation tasks, and learned some new math games.
Orange Shirt Day - We read stories, listened to videos, and had discussions to develop an understanding of why we have this day and what truth and reconciliation mean. Stories are such a great way to help us all understand difficult things. You check out some of the stories we shared below. The kids will do more Orange Shirt day activities with Mrs. Kellington on Monday.
Terry Fox - We have also been talking about Terry Fox and all he did. Tomorrow is our Terry Fox walk. If you choose to join our class, please check in at the office to ensure that your volunteer form is filled out.
Poweschool - I have not added anything to Powerschool yet but will begin by the end of next week. I will tell you that all the kids have been working really hard to far. This 2B class is a lovely group of hard working, respectful kids. It is a pleasure to teach them!
Phonics - I sent home their phonics scribblers today. It will be really beneficial if you get your child to read the passages from it to build their accuracy and fluency. The spelling pattern they practiced this week is the Floss Rule. Please send the scribblers back to school next week. Thank you for doing that this past week!
There will be no school on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Remember to initial the calendar in your child's agenda if he/she is practicing his/her reading at home. I will check the Sept calendars on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Library is on Wednesday.
I hope you all enjoy the beauty of fall this weekend. I sure love all the beautiful colors outside. Look at the beautiful artwork the kids did this past week.
Take care!
