Ms. Kelly Ndayizigiye first earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in family studies at James Madison University. After graduation, she explored the field of psychology finding an interest in working with and supporting students in the school system and their mental health. While working in various positions, Kelly learned how interlinked academic success and social/emotional growth are and why it is important for students to know and be supported. This motivated her to pursue a Master of Education in Counselor Education to become a school counselor. As a new counselor, Kelly looks forward to growing with the incoming class and finding my place at MLWGS.
Outside of school, Kelly's interest surrounds trying new foods, exploring Richmond, and amateur photography.

Ms. Joy Cobb received her B.A. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary and her M.Ed in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ms. Cobb started her position as sophomore and junior counselor at MLWGS in the fall of 2008. In addition to her school counseling duties, Ms. Cobb serves as a co-sponsor for Peer Mentors. For the past fourteen years, Ms. Cobb has served as a teacher steward for the National Park Services. In this capacity, Ms. Cobb volunteers at the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site and instructs area high school students during the Maggie L. Walker Summer Leadership Institute. In her free time, Ms. Cobb enjoys reading, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, niece, and their dog, Sparkle.

Ms. Kim Forquer is a native of Ohio who earned a B.A. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (preK-8) from Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania and an M.Ed. in Counselor Education (K-12) from Virginia Commonwealth University. After teaching Kindergarten for six years in Hanover County, she joined the counseling team at Meadowbrook High School in Chesterfield County, where she served as a school counselor for eight years and the school counseling coordinator for nine. Ms. Forquer’s background includes supporting students in Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement, CTE, and other rigorous coursework, as well as serving as the college counselor to juniors and seniors in the International Baccalaureate and entrepreneurship specialty center programs. She was selected as a College Board Regional Fellow during the 2019-20 school year. At Meadowbrook, she coached the Scholastic Bowl/Battle of the Brains team for over ten years, and since becoming a Maggie Walker Dragon in 2020, she has sponsored the Operation Smile Club and Dance Team. Outside of school, Ms. Forquer loves to teach private violin lessons, travel with friends and family, and explore Richmond with coupons and a camera.

Dr. Rachel Loving graduated with honors from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia with a B.A. in Psychology. She continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, receiving a M.Ed. in Counselor Education. Dr. Loving began her career as a school counselor at Caroline High School in Caroline County in fall of 2002. There, she coordinated college admissions materials, college recruiters, and scholarships. Dr. Loving was appointed Guidance Director at CHS and held that position for three years. Dr. Loving also spent a year as the Welcome Center Coordinator for James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. At JMU, Dr. Loving served prospective students and parents within the Office of Admissions and earned her post-master's certificate in College Student Personnel Administration. Dr. Loving started her position as a senior counselor at MLWGS in the fall of 2008 and earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. She is passionate about assisting Maggie Walker's talented students with the college search process. Outside of school, Mrs. Loving enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and son.
School Social Worker

Ms. Erin Ortiz. In May 2012, Erin graduated from Gallaudet University with a master’s in Social Work. Her program concentrated on school social work and education, with specialized training in working with individuals with disabilities, particularly D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students. She holds a Pupil Personnel License under the VA Department of Education and is also a certified trauma specialist, endorsed by NASW, the National Association of Social Workers.
Erin is also an MLWGS alumna from the Class of 2006. She currently serves on a GS Foundation steering committee that promotes and manages the bi-annual alumni showcase.
Erin’s earlier work was as an adjunct professor in the VCU School of Social Work MSW Program and a case manager at Richmond CASA, a court-based advocacy program for children involved in cases of child abuse and neglect petitioned to the Richmond City Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. From there, Erin worked for Henrico County serving students and families attending HCPS for seven years.
Erin believes that children are the future, and it is our responsibility to cultivate growth and learning through a positive and productive learning experience, understanding that every child’s and family’s needs are individually unique. She is fueled by a desire to work within a school setting serving children, parents, families, faculty and staff, and the surrounding community. As well, her passion to ensure that all children are afforded opportunities to succeed, no matter what barriers may impede progress, adds to her motivation and propels her commitment and loyalty to school social work practice.
Erin looks forward to pursuing her LCSW in the next steps of her career. She and her husband, Michael, reside in Richmond City’s southside with their dog, Bodhi, and are expecting their first child in late October 2022.

Mr. Lucas Veale is the school Registrar and Counseling Assistant. He is a 2005 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a B.A. in Human Geography and Information Systems. Lucas previously spent 8 years working in several capacities within the Asheville City Schools district and is originally a native of Savannah, GA. When not in the counseling office, you can most likely find Mr. Veale coaching soccer, walking his dog Galileo, or indulging in the Richmond food scene with friends and family.
