General Scheduling Timeline
First Days of 2nd Semester – Counselors distribute course offering lists, course catalogs, and four-year planners during lunchtime assemblies on course scheduling.
First Week of February – Powerpoints on Course Information and Registration Procedures are sent to parents.
First Week of February – Teachers begin discussing department course offerings with students.
First Week of February – Counselors begin meeting with students to develop individual schedules on Course Registration Worksheets. Students are given a Course Registration Form, a copy of completed worksheet, and VCU course registration forms to bring home and fill out with parents.
February - Students obtain signatures for permission to take AP, preAP and dual enrollment classes on Course Registration Form from teachers.
Early March – Students are called to computer labs during 2nd period to enter course requests in Powerschool and turn in one copy of course registration form. Data is available for dept chairs and admin for determining section numbers and staff needs. Course registration form requires teacher and parental signatures. VCU Dual Enrollment registration forms are required at this time as well for all rising seniors and underclassmen that are taking VCU courses.
End of April – Rising Freshman registration – Course request forms are collected and students enter requests directly into Powerschool.
Start of June – Schedules distributed to returning students (without teacher names).
First two weeks of June – Schedule change requests submitted with parental signature and department chair signatures. Teachers re-examine grade status and recommendations for next year classes.
Early August - Schedules mailed out to all students (including incoming freshmen) with course fee invoices.
