Griffin-Spalding County Schools offers mentoring support for new teachers and leaders embarking on their educational journey. Our mentors are veteran educators trained to empower novice educators as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of their profession. We aim to foster a supportive community where new teachers can thrive and grow into confident, effective educators. join us in cultivating a brighter future for education, one mentorship at a time.
The New Teacher Induction Program has been developed to ease those transitional anxieties and provide induction phase teachers (new to the profession and new to the school system) with the support, training, and information to ensure teacher effectiveness and student success.
T.I.P. Mission: To guide each teacher inductee in maintaining a highly effective classroom through mentoring, ongoing performance assessment, and professional learning.
T.I.P. Vision: Develop High-quality teachers who positively impact student growth and achievement through supportive mentorship.
W.I.S.E. is an acronym for Wisdom in Senior Educators. The mentoring program is a partnership with retired educators. WISE mentors serve our five UVA schools as an extra layer of support for induction phase teachers.
The purpose of the program is to aid in the following:
Provide Social and Emotional support to GSCS teachers
Connect knowledge seekers (mentees) with knowledge bearers (mentors)
Help mentees navigate careers and life
Increase employee retention, boost workplace satisfaction and foster professional growth
Sustained improvement in student learning rarely occurs without a great leader. Leadership is second only to teaching among school-based factors that influence student learning. New school leaders are provided a mentor to give them a strong start.
Our mentoring resources are tailor-made to equip mentors with the tools and guidance necessary to support new teachers. This page offers a wealth of resources to enhance the mentoring experience. From best practices in mentorship to effective communication strategies, we provide comprehensive support to help mentors foster growth and development in their mentees.
This information is available to mentors only.
