Exploring Experience of a SEA-Teacher
SEA- TEACHER STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME, BATCH 9th -2023
These are the Pre- Service Student Teacher Exchange in the Southeast Asia.
The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide an opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
Based on the SEAMEO seven priority areas for the eleven SEAMEO Member countries to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, “Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas in building and strengthening the capacity of teachers in the region.
The exchange is preferably for 4th-year students whose majors are in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and Preschool. The duration is for one month and is based on the mechanism of cost-sharing basis. Students’ roles and responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one-month period (observe, assist in teaching, teach, and reflect). Moreover, the host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the students throughout the practicum period.
To enable pre-service student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy.
To encourage the pre-service student teachers to practice their English skills.
To allow the pre-service student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view.
To expose future teachers to diverse teaching and learning situations and opportunities, and the value of flexibility.
Dong Thap University / Đại học Đồng Tháp
Dong Thap University (DThU) (Vietnamese: Đại học Đồng Tháp) is a Vietnamese public university based in the city of Cao Lanh in Dong Thap Province. It is one of the educational and research institutions in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam.
For the 9th batch of the SEA-Teacher Student Exchange Program, Dong Thap University serves as the second home of the students who participated since it is far away from our home country which is the Philippines and Indonesia. They catered to the exchange program students from the Philippines and Indonesia. The schools in the Philippines that participated in the above-mentioned program are the Guimaras State University (GSU), the University of Santo Thomas (UST), Saint Louise University (SLU), and the University of Saint Anthony. From Indonesia, the Universities that participated are the Halu Oleo University (UHO), Universitas Pakuan (UNPAK), Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI), and Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS).
