WHAT IS DISABILITY?

Any impairment of the body or mind that makes it more difficult for a person with a disability to engage in particular activities (an activity limitation) or interact with the world around them (participation restrictions) is a disability. Simply put, a disability is a physical or mental condition that makes it extremely difficult or impossible for a person to perform essential activities like walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, or learning. Some disabilities may last a lifetime or even be permanent. Others are fleeting or only last for a short time.

Getting Rid of Taboo against Disability

Disability is not something to be ashamed or embarrassed of. Disability is not something that someone chooses. It is a part of life, and should be embraced and accepted. We can all learn to be respectful and have better understanding of people with disabilities. We ought to create a sense of belonging for people with disabilities by providing equal opportunities and accessibility in all aspects of life.
