In accordance with a research on cyberbullying, up to 17% of teenagers and young people experience it before they are 25. This has a significant detrimental impact on their life. Cyberbullying can take many shapes and forms; in fact, it is totally subjective to the person being bullied. It's serious and extremely perilous. Here are some of the most effective methods for preventing cyberbullying:
1. DON'T RESPOND IMMEDIATELY:
A cyberbully uses intimidation to gain power and control. The greatest method to combat a cyberbully is to simply ignore him and deny him any authority. You should also block the user from your computer, mobile or any other technological device.
2. SAVE THE EVIDENCE:
The safekeeping of any text, image, email, or other pieces of proof pertaining to the bully is advised. Under the cyberbullying law act, this evidence may be utilised against the bully.
3. TALK TO SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST:
It's encouraged that you speak with a trusted adult. It is best to involve your parents since they will be at your side through thick and thin. You may also talk to your school administration or online service providers
4. PROTECT PASSWORDS:
It is recommended to secure your online and social media accounts. Give bullies no opportunity to access your accounts or your personal information.
5. TAKE A STANCE:
Taking action when you notice others being harmed and harassed by someone, whether it be online or offline, is another crucial strategy to combat cyberbullying. DO NOT just observe in silence. Tell someone about it (a parent or teacher). Alternatively, look for support groups at your school where you can inform the perpetrator in confidence.
