SAMI TRIBE
The Sami ‘Lapp’ languages are often spoken in Finland, Norway, Sweden as well as Russia. Although UNESCO regards all these languages as endangered, revitalization efforts are taking in place of them.
Almost all Sami people are bilingual in a Sami language and in the official language of the country in which they reside, however, many no longer even speak their native language. These languages have some literature and they are used in newspapers, however, they are little used in education or government. They also lack a uniform literary language.
