Holidays we celebrate in the USA
Purim by Livi:
Once upon a time the Queen and the king lived happily. The king loved parties, he had them very often. One day when the king was having a party the Queen did not want to go. She was sent out. There was a contest to see who would be the next queen. Esther won! Esther was crowned queen. Neither did they know an evil man named Haman made everyone bow to him and everyone did except Mordecai. Haman forced Mordecai to kill all the Jews on the 13th. When Mordecai told Queen Esther, she decided to trust her instincts and stand up what for what she believed for she was Jewish. She organized a banquet between the king, Haman, and herself. During the banquet she stood up and told the king, the Jews are to be killed on the 13th, I am to die too for I am Jewish. Whose ideas was it to kill the Jews? Haman said Esther. The king bellowed at Haman and said that all Jews are not be killed. Esther saved the Jews and herself. Today everyone makes hamantaschens cookies in the shape of Haman's silly hat. We celebrate by booing when Haman's name is mentioned, and we dress up and go to carnivals. We also put masks in front of our faces to celebrate too. We go to temple, sing songs, say prayers and review the story of Purim every year. We buy or make hamantaschens to spread and share among family and friends.
Always have the courage to stand up for what you believe in!
