Physical characteristics
The side of the body is flat in the shape of a spinning bell.
The abdomen is silvery white, with oval moire spots in the center of the side of the body.

Habitat distribution
It is a freshwater fish that inhabits the mountain streams of Xuepa National Park. It is currently only distributed in Qijiawan Creek and Gaoshan Creek in Wuling Area. It is an endemic subspecies of Taiwan and is endangered.
Current status of conservation
Over the years, typhoons, floods, and human over-exploitation of forests have caused great changes in habitats, posing serious threats to survival; currently, only rare ethnic groups can be seen in strictly protected waters.
