What is musical therapy? It is where a therapist uses music to help their patients with spiritual, mental, physical and emotional health. Musical therapy can also be used for many things besides helping relieve stress, it can help induce sleep, communication, reduce asthma attacks and help lessen pain! Many people believe this and there is research to prove it works!
Music is one of the few things that uses the whole brain, and people who listen to music tend to learn better. Your brain creates an emotional bond to songs if they remind you of a fond memory or person. It is quite remarkable how your brain connects to music. The way it can raise blood pressure and lower it, calm you down or pump you up. It is no wonder music is a part of daily life for most people.
Music is linked to mood, which makes sense why you prefer to listen to joyful songs when you’re joyful and so on. Pictures with music can work to help inspire or invoke creativity, it can also be used in classrooms to help children develop reading and language skills.
With all this evidence, I strongly recommend music therapy to help with small problems like stress, depression, insomnia or even just to dance too!
