To spread the joy of reading amongst children of Classes I to VIII, books on all subjects were donated to SOS Villages of India, Bawana.
No education is complete without students being sensitised about the under privileged sections of the society. Our school has always sought to inculcate a sense of service among the students. As a part of the initiative, a book donation drive was organised. Six boxes of donated books were handed over to Angels Academy on 3 February 2018 and 4 students of Class IX visited NGO-Prerna Niketan on 5 February 2018 to donate 7 boxes of books as a token of our humble service to society.
Modern Public school, Shalimar Bagh believes in the adage “We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give” and also upholds the belief that the best way to serve god is to serve the humanity. Under the able guidance of the Principal, Ms. Alka Kapur, the dream of making society free of starvation turned into a reality when she joined hands with Roti Bank – an organization run by group of people who are specially dedicated towards feeding the poor and needy people by satiating their hunger by providing them with daily food. She was highly inspired and touched by the kind gesture of Mr. Sudhir Bahrani and Mr. Raj Kumar Bhatia who are the pillars behind this organization. Ms. Alka Kapur came back to her school and added a feather in the school’s cap by its humble contribution to the cause of less fortunate sections of the society with the successful initiation of Roti bank on the eve of Christmas. Since then, it has become a regular practice of the students and teachers to bring chappati and dry vegetables from home to ensure that the underprivileged section of the society in the neighbourhood gets square meal a day. This kind gesture is nurturing the values of empathy, caring and sharing for the humanity amongst the students and it not only gives pleasure to the heart but also peace to the mind when a gloomy day becomes a cheerful one for the needy. The endeavour is to touch the poor and help them forget grief and hardship and help them celebrate life. It is hoped that such gestures will help students make a positive contribution to our society and in the years to come to help reduce the gap between haves and have-nots. The Principal is the only driving force behind this initiative. Her constant inspiration has always ignited spark amongst the staff and students to work for such noble causes.
