DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE 

The Centre for Quality Assurance (CQA) is committed to being a supportive, enabling, and trusted partner that works closely with academic and administrative entities to strengthen their processes, outcomes, and institutional impact. Rather than functioning mainly as a compliance-focused unit, the CQA promotes a culture where quality is experienced as practical support and meaningful guidance that enhances teaching, learning, research, and governance.

A key focus is to strengthen process improvement while maintaining appropriate evidence, accountability, and transparency. Quality systems should reflect how work is genuinely carried out, how risks are managed, and how improvements are achieved in practice. By embedding reflection, feedback, and informed decision-making into routine activities, the CQA helps increase value-adding work and reduce unnecessary effort.

Equally important is creating a positive and respectful environment where members of the university community feel supported rather than audited, and guided rather than monitored. Through constructive collaboration with all stakeholders, the CQA seeks to build trust, encourage openness, and add genuine value to the University of Peradeniya while upholding its academic values and institutional identity.
