About the School
School Mission: All students will graduate from the Winooski School District (WSD) college and career ready at a cost supported by the majority of the Winooski Community. WSD students will lead healthy, productive and successful lives and engage with their local and global community.
Winooski, VT is a former mill town of about 7300 people located adjacent to Burlington, VT (the largest city in Vermont). Winooski is located close to the Canadian border, just 90 miles southwest of Montreal. The town is highly diverse, largely due to refugees coming to Winooski in recent years through the International Refugee Resettlement Program.
Winooski High School utilizes Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements (PBGR). To graduate from Winooski, students must become skilled in six transferable skills, called GX's (Graduate Expectations), and 13 Career & College Readiness Standards, denoted GP's (Graduate Proficiencies).
About the School: Winooski Middle and High School serves grades 6-12, with a high school enrollment (grades 9-12) of 241. The high school student body is 35% Black, 34% White, 22% Asian, 2% Hispanic, 6% Multi-racial, and 0.5% American Native, Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
