December and the start of the New Year have been nothing short of amazing at Wolverines! We kicked off the season with a fantastic family event—Cookie Night—and filled our days with festive crafts, hands-on activities, and tons of holiday cheer.
As we jump into the New Year, the excitement keeps rolling! We launched brand-new Fun Friday Clubs, new Explorer Enrichments, and homework time with GES teachers to support our students in fresh and engaging ways.
And the best part? We’re continuing our incredible partnerships with the Connecticut Science Center, Mystic Aquarium, and Mystic Seaport—bringing unforgettable learning experiences right to our Wolverines!

The month of December flew by for the morning Wolverines! We made snowflakes and paper chains to decorate the cafeteria for cookie night. Santas, elves, reindeers and many winter crafts were made to celebrate the magic of Christmas. Although we were not able to go outside much, due to the weather, many students have been playing basketball and of course Sharks and Minnows in the Gym.
December was a joyful and engaging month for our WFPK classroom! We partnered with GHS students from the Child Development courses, they got to practice teaching by leading our morning small group activities. Our dramatic play area was transformed into an enchanted forest, where children built "ice" castles, explored imaginative winter play, and practiced storytelling! Throughout the month, we also explored how holidays are celebrated around the world, giving children opportunities to share their own family traditions and learn about the traditions of others.
In December, our kindergarten students explored holidays from around the world! We created festive crafts inspired by Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas while learning about different traditions and celebrations. Students also made heartfelt holiday cards to send to our local fire station, spreading kindness and gratitude within our community. It was a joyful month full of creativity, learning, and giving!
For the month of December, first graders learned all about the holidays, as well as the winter season! Together we did various craft activities such as building marshmallow igloos, decorate gingerbread people, and build our own snowman stamps. Aside from our crafts, we also made sure to get active, incorporating our winter theme into various gym based activities! We ended out our month with holiday paintings and karaoke caroling!
Our holiday journey took us around the world! First stop was the Swiss Alps, where we explored Swiss culture and holiday traditions while creating our own Alpine Christmas trees and cozy chalets. Next, we traveled to India, learning all about Diwali and other beautiful traditions. The children loved designing colorful Rangolis and Diyas. Our final stop was Germany, where we discovered festive traditions and wrapped up our adventure by building some truly awesome gingerbread houses! What an exciting and magical holiday journey it was!
Third grade had a wonderful time in December, learning about winter holidays around the world and engaging in Christmas festivities! We created salt paintings, gingerbread houses out of magnet tiles, model magic ornaments, winter scenes out of Legos, pop-up Santa crafts, and winter-themed sun catchers. We explored cultural holidays by playing Dreidel and creating Kwanzaa placemats. We also spent time in the gym playing Jack Frost tag and Melt the Snowman. We are looking forward to celebrating the New Year in January with Art explorers!
In December our 4th grade Wolverines celebrated the holiday season through hands-on enrichment activities that encouraged creativity and fine motor skills. The Wolverines made festive snowflakes, holiday wreaths, beaded candy canes, Christmas trees, and ornaments while exploring different materials and design ideas. They had a great time expressing themselves artistically, working together, and showing off their holiday spirit through their creations
