Chromebooks update automatically. Due to frequent powering off and on, you may have a Chromebook with an update that has not been applied. This, also, could lead to issues with the Chromebook browser. To check for and apply updates to your Chromebook, try the following steps:
- Click the status area, where your account picture and the clock/time appears.
- Click Settings - then About Chrome OS. In the "About" window that appears, click Check for and apply updates.
- Your Chromebook will start to install any available updates.
- Once completed, you will need to restart your Chromebook.
