Ongoing Skills Practice Throughout the Year:

In addition to our core literature units, students will continuously build and refine essential language arts skills that support their growth as readers, writers, and communicators.

Skills We Practice All Year:

• Grammar – mastering parts of speech, and proper sentence construction

• Sentence Structure – writing varied and complex sentences, including active and passive voice

• Punctuation – using commas, semicolons, apostrophes, and other marks correctly

• Writing Skills – developing clear, organized, and effective written communication across multiple genres

• Annotation Skills – actively engaging with texts by marking key ideas, asking questions, and making connections

• Communication Skills - mastering clear presentation skills through clear communication, eye contact, and voice levels

These foundational skills are woven into every unit and assignment, ensuring students become confident and capable writers ready for high school and beyond.
