The Recycling Helpers Program at Reedy Laurel Elementary gives third graders the opportunity to take an active role in caring for our school and reducing waste. Classrooms collect paper and cardboard recycling throughout the week, and on Wednesdays, small groups of third-grade Recycling Helpers use our large recycling cans to empty classroom bins. Students then place the filled recycling cans outside for our recycling company to pick up. Through this hands-on experience, students learn that everyone can make a difference by recycling and taking care of our environment.
