Art 1 is an introductory course designed for students to obtain a broad experience in the visual arts. Students will have opportunities to explore most categories of studio art, as well as a basic world history of art.  Art assignments are planned in accordance with the SC Visual Arts Standards.  In addition to learning and developing basic art skills, your student will learn to use various materials, meet deadlines, be productive and efficient, and to find confidence in exploring their creative side.

Art 2 students will continue sequential development of art skills and concepts through in-depth exploration of a variety of media and techniques. Drawing from observation and developing technical competency are emphasized. Art History segments will concentrate on American Artists. Students will keep an art portfolio throughout the school year and have a "One Person Art Show" between February and May.

Art 3 HONORS students will continue sequential learning of skills and concepts through in-depth exploration of a variety of media and techniques. Students will be encouraged to pursue personal choices in media and subject matter. Emphasis is on the individual development of craftsmanship and personal expression. Advanced approaches to drawing are stressed.

Art 4 HONORS -This advanced art course emphasizes individualized exploration of specific art problems. A sketchbook and periodic critiques are required. AP STUDIO is comprised of students who are working towards producing a college-level body of work, to be submitted to the AP College Board, through studio practice, application of design concepts, and informed decision making.
