Grove Elementary Music Long Range Lesson Plans

These long range plans are for K5 through 5th grade. They are based off the National and State Standards for Elementary Music Education:

1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music

2. Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music

3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniment

4. Composing and arranging music with specific guidelines

5. Reading and notating music

6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music

7. Evaluating music and music performance

8. Understanding the relationship between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside of the arts

9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture

Student Materials: Textbook Spotlight on Music by McMillian / McGraw-Hill

grades K5-5th, Quaver Music Technology Curriculum, as well as teacher created materials to supplement what is and is not covered in the textbook. All students need a composition notebook or 3 ring portfolio to write their notes in. I will issue a pencil to the students. If the students keep up with their portfolio, they will have up to four years of music notes that can assist them when they are promoted to 6th grade.
