Mission: The Fisher Auto Mechanics Club equips students with hands-on automotive skills, fostering problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence, while bridging classroom learning with real-world applications. 

Vision: We envision a thriving, hands-on learning hub where students not only master the fundamentals of vehicle care but also grow into resourceful, community-minded leaders, building lasting connections between education, local partners, and the future.

At the Fisher Auto Mechanics Club, students dive into real automotive work—changing oil, replacing spark plugs, and tackling hands-on projects on a real vehicle. It’s a club where challenge meets elbow grease. Students aren’t just learning how cars work, they’re actively transforming them, while having fun, getting their hands dirty, and working as a team.

Beyond car know-how, students gain problem-solving skills, confidence, and leadership. They learn to tackle challenges methodically, work as a team, and develop skills that will transfer into all aspects of their lives - whether it’s taking initiative, thinking critically, or building resilience in the face of any problem.

The skills students develop here - teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on know-how - will not only empower them, but will ripple back into the community. Whether these students become future technicians, innovators, or simply community-minded problem-solvers, they’re gaining skills that create lasting local impact.

SESSION PROJECTS

Mr. Morrill's 2013 Chevy Equinox is our guinea pig - I mean victim - I mean project car. We will use it to understand the basics of car care and do some simple projects. With a 2.4L motor and 4 wheel disc breaks, it is fairly easy to do a lot of learning on. We may work on a few teacher's cars also.

1. Ignition System: Spark Plugs & Jump Starting (September 25, 2026)

Remove and replace coils, spark plugs, measure spark plug gaps, apply dielectric grease, and safely perform a jump-start on a vehicle.

2. Diagnostics & OBD-II Scanning (October 30, 2026)

Use an OBD-II scanner to retrieve diagnostic codes, look up their meaning, and brainstorm possible solutions for system issues.

3. Engine Basics & Oil Change (November 27, 2026)

Start with OBD-II scan. Then, learn how an engine works, why lubrication is important, and perform a full oil and filter change on the 2013 Chevy Equinox.

4. Fuel System & Fuel Pump (January 29, 2026)

Explore how the fuel system works and assist in safely replacing the high-pressure fuel pump.

Replace the engine air filter, clean the PCV system, and examine how clean airflow supports combustion.
