Dance education in Greenville County Schools offers students a dynamic and enriching experience that fosters creativity, discipline, and self-expression. Dance is offered at select elementary, middle, and high schools, and is taught by certified, highly skilled dance educators.
Through a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the South Carolina Dance Standards, students explore various dance styles including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and cultural dance forms. In addition to technique and performance, instruction includes choreography, dance history, and the study of dance as an expressive art form.
Students have opportunities to perform at school, district, and community events, and many programs participate in adjudicated performances and festivals where they receive valuable feedback to support their growth as artists.
Greenville County Schools is proud to partner with local, state and national dance organizations and studios, providing students with access to professional performances and master classes. These partnerships also support ongoing professional development for our dance educators, helping to ensure high-quality instruction in every classroom.
