Dear Parent,
I am so glad your student is in my class! One of our goals is to be responsible and independent learners. To do so, we must respect rules and each other. We reward good behavior, and encourage change through positive steps. Steps might include a classroom behavior chart, a self-reflection sheet (to be signed by a parent or guardian), time to think, or time at lunch to sit silently for a brief time to reflect. After August, third grade students that forget to turn in homework will pick up an extra copy of the homework to do along with Morning Work.
Classroom rules are: 1)to be a responsible student 2)to use kind manners and be courteous listeners 3)to keep hands and feet to ourselves 4)to be honest and always do our best.
If a student breaks a rule, the first time results in a warning and quick discussion in the hall. The second time results in walking the track 1 or 2 laps during recess to think about the event and other ways the student could have handled it. The third time results in writing the Behavior Planning Sheet (to be signed by the parent or guardian). The fourth time will be a conference with parents to find positive ways to help the student. A severe disruption will mean a referral to our principal.
A copy of this goes home in the Parent Packet provided the first week of school. Students sign and return the contract portion, indicating that they understand and will abide by these classroom and school rules.
Student, parent, and teacher all work together to help your student grow into a responsible, confident, and independent learner. Here is a link to our Class Salary Rewards Incentives
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brown
