In July 2020, GreenerU was retained by the Library Corporation to perform a high-level feasibility evaluation of the use of a geothermal exchange HVAC system for the Concord Free Public Library’s planned expansion project. The assessment involved review of available project documentation. Findings of the study are based on GreenerU’s professional experience in the HVAC and energy efficiency industry.
GreenerU determined that while a ground-source system would be feasible from a technical standpoint, there would be minimal financial or sustainability-related benefit. This is in large part due to the fact that the current design is highly efficient and all-electric, diminishing the incremental benefits of the significant capital investment required for a ground source system.
