Who can participate in the Ánimo Cup
Expanded Learning Program funded school will need to register their team before April 21st, 2023. Each program will be allowed to bring one team of eight total players. At least two players must be of the opposite gender. Teams should be comprised of an existing Expanded Learning Soccer program or at the very least, Expanded Learning Program students. Students interested in participating should contact their programs Site Coordinator for more information.
How to register and prepare for the Ánimo Cup
How many players on a team?
8 players total. This is a Co-Ed tournament. A minimum of 2 players of the opposite gender must be in a team. This is a Co-Ed tournament.
Can I have a waitlist?
You can have a waitlist of players. However, on game day your starting 8 players are locked in and cannot be substituted. Students that travel with the team as guests are not allowed to substitute for any injured players during the tournament.
How many players can play at one time?
Gameplay is 5v5 throughout the tournament, including the semi-final and final round.
Can we wear custom uniforms?
Yes. However, your uniform must identify your school as the team
Can my CIF team play in the tournament?
No. The Animo Cup is open to current soccer clubs established by the Expanded Learning Programs at participating schools. We want to ensure an even playing opportunity for all participants.
Frequently asked Questions
What should I bring the day of the tournament?
Shin Guards, Training shoes, molded soles or astro boots - No screw in studded footwear or blades. Players can wear the same color of top to be distinguished from other teams
Can I bring food and drinks? What about lunch?
Lunch will be provided for players and registered staff working the event. There is a snack shop open for additional purchases. No outside food is allowed on the facility. Water can be brought on site for players.
What time does the tournament start?
Current start time is at 9:00am and students should be boarded on buses to depart by 2:00pm
Can my family come to the event?
Families and friends are always welcomed to attend Green Dot org wide events. (4 guests per player) However, all guests must be placed on the guest list prior to the event. If you think someone might come place them on the list. Guest lists will be with the afterschool program coordinators or team coach.
Can my cousin, friend or older brother/ sister play for me?
No. Player team rosters must be finalized the Monday before the event and must be active Green Dot Students currently enrolled in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Can our afterschool program pay/ sponsor a second team?
No, programs are limited to one team.
