Learning social skills is important to help your child:
form positive relationships with peers
learn from others
become exposed to and acclimate to various environments
Many children need help learning how to adjust their behavior accordingly in order to blend in to the various environments and social settings in which they find themselves.
Children often have the desire to interact with others, but may not know how to engage friends or may be overwhelmed by the idea of new experiences.
To teach a social skill to your child: select a skill that you want your child to learn, model the skill, prompt the child to imitate, and reinforce that response.
