Select a task for your child to complete i.e., Complete 5 math examples from a work sheet.
Remove 5 stars from the token system and place them on the table next to the token board.
Ask your child what he/she wants to work for. Your child selects the reward that he/she will receive after the assignment is complete.
After each math example, provide verbal praise, "Fantastic!" and place 1 star on the token board board. Provide encouragement for your child to continue. If your child is having difficulty with a task, don't automatically provide assistance. First, teach your child to request for help by saying, Say "Help", or Say, "I need help." , "I need help with this one.", etc...
**Teaching your child to request for help when they need it can help to reduce their frustration and will ultimately eliminate problem behavior.
