Educators in the MBLC are dedicated to creating schools that help students feel a sense of belonging, pursue ambitious academic goals, and engage in deep learning, creative design, and imaginative problem-solving. We work towards this vision by using two central teaching strategies: we use Culturally Responsive-Sustaining practices to create school communities and classrooms that are welcoming, that reflect students' identities and heritages, and that are actively anti-racist, and we use Mastery-Based Practices to help students understand what high-quality academic work looks like, to help them set and works towards goals, and to help them develop the skills and attributes of life-long learners.
On this page, we have gathered tools, resources, and examples within three different sections to help educators apply these teaching strategies to student assessment.
